Player Volunteer Organization Formed -- The Wolfe P.A.C.K.

In 2011, PR Baseball Boosters announce the formation of the "Wolfe P.A.C.K". The Wolfe P.A.C.K. (Players About Community and Kids) is a player initiated and led organization of PR baseball players whose intent is to volunteer in various opportunities within the community and to mentor the youth baseball players of Pine Richland. The players are actively involved in their first service project--providing instruction and encouragement at the Pine Richland youth winter baseball training sessions.

How to Follow PR Baseball on Twitter

Receiving text updates is a great way for you or your relatives from out of town to be able to follow your favorite PR player's games.

Each PR Baseball team has a Twitter name:

Varsity: prbaseball1

Junior Varsity: prbaseballjv

Junior High: prbaseballjrhi

Middle School: prbaseballms

There are several ways to follow your favorite Rams baseball team on Twitter:

1. If all you want to do is follow the Twitter updates on the web, no Twitter account is needed:

a. Go to www.pinerichlandbaseball.org and click on the Twitter link to the right for your team, or

b. Go to www.twitter.com/yourteamtwittername

Either way, you’ll be at the Twitter site that displays the “tweets” for your team.

2. To follow your team on your own Twitter account, and even on your cell phone:

a. First joint Twitter by going to www.twitter.com

b. Click on "Sign Up”

c. Enter information to create an account

d. Once the account is created, log in and click on #Discover at the top of the screen. Select “Find Friends”, then enter the name of the team’s Twitter account that you want to follow and click the Follow button.

Your Twitter account will now receive the updates for that team. You can add other teams the same way.

3. You can receive Twitter updates on your cell phone as regular, automatic texts. To set this up, log in to your Twitter home page, click on “View my profile page” (located right under your Twitter name at the top of the screen), click “Edit your profile”, click the Mobile link, and fill out the information needed.

Scholarship Award

Due to its successful fund raising efforts, the Pine-Richland Baseball Boosters has been able to sponsor a Player Scholarship Award for the past several years.

The $1,000 award is based on academic excellence, and demonstrated traits of leadership, integrity and role model behavior. The player must:

- Be a senior and member of the Pine-Richland Varsity baseball team.

- Plan on attending a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school.

- Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Interested seniors are asked to fill out an extensive application. Application questions and GPA’s are rated and assigned point values by a committee of three  volunteer parents. The review process is coordinated by a non-voting facilitator.

Prior award recipients are:

Zach Grguras (2015) - Rochester Institute of Technology

Nick Chavara (2014) - Slippery Rock

Marcus Collela (2013) - Williams College

Sam Sedory (2012) - Clemson

Ron Reha (2011) - University of Pittsburgh

Matthew Berezo (2010) - Duke University

Mitch Elliott (2009) - Xavier University

Stephen Freehling (2008) - Virginia Military Institute

Derek Schleiden (2007) - Air Force Academy

Mike Morgan (2006) - University of Pittsburgh.

The Boosters organization plans to continue this tradition of recognizing academic, teamwork, and leadership excellence through a Player Scholarship program.
