How to Follow PR Baseball on Twitter

To follow your Pine-Richland Baseball team on Twitter:
1. To just see the updates on the web:
                a. Go to www.pinerichlandbaseball.org, and scroll down to see the Twitter feed for your team or
                b. Go to www.twitter.com (or click on the Twitter link in any of the above feeds)
                                i. Type in your team Twitter name in the search line, and click Search
                                ii. You should see the latest "tweets" for your team
2. To follow your team on your own Twitter account, and even on your cell phone:
                a. First joint Twitter by going to www.twitter.com.
b. Click on "Get Started Now".
c. Enter information to create an account. As a part of this process, you will receive an email
                that requires action before the account is fully activated.
d. Once your account has been created, click on the Find People link at the top of your Twitter
                page.
e. Type the name of the team that you want to follow, e.g. PRBaseballJV
f. When the results are displayed, the team that you are looking should be listed. Under
                "Actions", click on the icon that looks like a person, which will put that team on your
                "follow" list. Your Twitter account will now receive the updates for that team. If you
                have a smart phone or pda, you can get Twitter updates via broadband web on your
                phone using any of the above methods.
g. To receive updates by text message to your phone:
i. From your account home page click on Settings and choose Mobile, then add your cell
                phone number.
ii. You will then need to follow the instructions to send a text to Twitter to verify your
                phone (Text "GO" to 40404)
iii. Once your phone is verified, click on “following” in the upper right-hand part of your
                Twitter home page, which will bring up the list of people (teams) you are
                following (your PR Baseball team should be listed – if it is not, go back to step
                2d). Beside the team name, you should see a tiny phone icon. Click on it and it
                will turn green, meaning that texts from this team will be sent to your phone.
iv. Each update for the team(s) that you follow will be sent to your phone as a text
                message. ** Note that text charges will apply, according to the contract that
                you have with your cellular service.

Receiving text updates is a great way for relatives from out of town to be able to follow
your favorite PR player's games.

Baseball Schedules

The baseball schedule for each team can be found at www.highschoolsports.net.

Please note that there are often schedule changes due to inclement weather and other reasons, and to be up to date with game scheduling, please call the Rams Sports Line with daily updates at 724-625-4444, Extension 7.

Scholarship Award

Due to its successful fund raising efforts, the Pine-Richland Baseball Boosters has been able to sponsor a Player Scholarship Award for the past several years.

The $500 award is based on academic excellence, and demonstrated traits of leadership, integrity and role model behavior. The player must:

Be a senior and member of the Pine-Richland Varsity baseball team.
Plan on attending a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school.
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Interested seniors are asked to fill out an extensive application. Application questions and GPA’s are rated and assigned point values by a committee of 3 volunteer parents. The review process is coordinated by a non-voting facilitator.

Prior award recipients are: Mitch Elliott (2009) - Xavier University; Stephen Freehling (2008) - Virginia Military Institute; Derek Schleiden (2007) - Air Force Academy; and Mike Morgan (2006) - University of Pittsburgh.

The Boosters organization plans to continue this tradition of recognizing academic, teamwork, and leadership excellence through a Player Scholarship program.
