Colin Durborow


Colin is currently a scholarship athlete enrolled at West Virginia University. The 2010 season finds him in his 3rd year of eligibility having taken a red-shirt his freshman year. WVU achieved 3rd place in the Big East in 2009 and is projected at 6th place in pre-season polls for the 2010 campaign. Most likely positions for this year are 2nd or 3rd base. At Pine-Richland, Colin was a dependable middle infielder with good hands, although his first year on varsity found him covering right field. 2005 and 2006 found him at the shortstop position. Colin was a three-year varsity letterman and, along with John Karr, co-captain of his team in his senior year. He was a member of three WPIAL championship teams (2004-06) and a member of the 2006 AAA state champion Rams. Colin was a member of the all-section team 2004-06 and all-WPIAL team 2005-06. He was a three-time scholar athlete (2004-06) and a 2005 Citizenship Award winner.



Mitch Elliot


Mitch graduated from Pine Richland in 2009 and is now playing baseball as a freshman at Xavier University. He was a three-year varsity member of both baseball and football teams, and received All-Section baseball honors for two years. Mitch had 20 stolen bases and 20 hits two years in a row, had a .500 batting average his senior year, and lead his conference in runs and hitting percentage his senior year. He was awarded All-Conference honors in football his senior year, and was a First-team academic All-Conference honoree as well.



John Karr


John is currently enrolled at Penn State. He was a three-year letter winner at Pine Richland High School and was also a team captain his senior year. He compiled a career record of 27-1 with 273 career strikeouts. He was a three-time All-District selection and was named All-WPIAL his junior and senior seasons. John was named the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Player of the Year and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Player of the Year his senior season. He went 14-0 with 146 strikeouts as a senior as the team went 23-4. John threw a complete game, one-hitter and struck out 13 in the state championship game to lead Pine-Richland to the State AAA Championship. The team won sectionals and the WPIAL during each of his three years on the varsity as well. He went 6-1 with five complete games, a 2.90 ERA and 58 strikeouts as a sophomore and then went 7-0 with six complete games, a 2.16 ERA and 69 strikeouts as a junior, as he started and won the WPIAL championship game in both seasons. John threw a one-hitter in his first varsity start as a sophomore. He played in the Keystone State Games and was also selected to play for the Allegheny Pirates fall select team sponsored by the Pittsburgh Pirates. John also played basketball for one season and football for three seasons.



T.J. Kuban


TJ is a freshman at West Virginia University, and is their starting 1st baseman. He will also be getting time playing 3rd base. TJ was a standout for Pine Richland varsity throughout his high school career. TJ started as a freshman and .is a 4 year letter winner. TJ also played a big part in winning the AAA State Championship in 2006. He led the team offensively in the 2009 season as a senior, batting .483 with five home runs, 30 RBIs, six doubles, 24 runs scored, 15 walks and a .640 on-base percentage. TJ made the WPIAL all-star team and was named to the All Conference Team. He was also a 2 year letter winner for Basketball and a 3 year letter winner for Football. As a senior, TJ led the football team with 5 interceptions and was named to the All Conference Team.



Blake Lalli


Blake is currently in the Chicago Cubs minor league system. In 2009 Blake played for the Tennessee Smokies, the Double A affiliate of the Cubs where he batted .314 and was named to both the mid and post season All-Star team of the Southern League as a first baseman. Blake attended Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina where he holds several records including the carreer leader in both hits and doubles. In 2004 Blake led the entire nation (Division 1) in doubles with 30. At Pine-Richland, Blake was a three year letterman and was named to the All Conference and All Area Teams in both his Junior and Senior years. He also was selected as a member of the Pittsburgh Tribune Reviews Terrific Nine.



Dale Mollenhauer


Dale earned four baseball letters and was designated a four time scholar athlete as a top infielder at Pine-Richland High School. In his senior year, he batted .507 with six home runs and 37 RBI to help guide the Rams to the sectional and WPIAL championships. Dale was a three-time all-section performer and two-year selection to the "Terrific 10" squad. He played summer and fall ball with the Mid-Atlantic Rockies. Dale enrolled at East Carolina University then was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 24th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft and by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft. Dale was a two-time Conference-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and was named to ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll for three semesters. He is currently playing in the Chicago White Sox minor league system for the Winston Salem Dash in the Carolina League.



Vinny Nittoli


Vinny is enrolled at Xavier University in Cincinnati. As a freshman in his first collegiate season, Vinny is slated to contribute to Xavier’s run for another A10 Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010 as a frontline pitcher and outfielder or Designated Hitter when not pitching. Vinny is a three-year letter winner at Pine-Richland High School in both Football and Baseball. In 2007, Vinny quarterbacked the football team to a 10-2 record with the team finishing the season ranked second in both the WPIAL and State. He completed 78 of 148 passes for 1,476 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 244 yards rushing with 13 rushing touchdowns and 2 two point conversions. When not playing quarterback, lead the team in tackles with 51 from his outside linebacker position. Selected Associated Press First Team All-State Linebacker and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette “Fabulous 22” Quarterback as a Junior. As a senior in baseball, helped lead his team to a 20-4 record in a very competitive Quad A section under head coach Kurt Wolfe. Selected as the WPIAL’s QuadA Pitcher of the Year, first team all-section team and WPIAL All-Star Game.



Ryan Nussbaum


Ryan Nussbaum made the Pine Richland Varsity Baseball Team as a ninth grader, started most games in left field, hit over .300 and contributed to the 2006 State Championship success. Knee injuries kept Ryan from playing at 100% his sophomore and junior years though he continued to stay with the program in a coaching capacity. He enjoyed tremendous success in the classroom at PR and was awarded many academic and extracurricular awards. After extensive rehab Ryan returned for his senior year, played first base and outfield, had very good offensive statistics, and served as a leader to the 2009 team that won more regular season games than any PR team and finished second in the WPIAL. Ryan is now a freshman at the University of Arizona studying pre-med and is a volunteer assistant coach with the Wildcats and Coach Andy Lopez. He hopes to practice medicine and coach baseball.



Ryan Owens


Ryan is a 2009 graduate of Pine Richland. Being a versatile athlete, he was a middle infielder with very quick hands as well as an outfielder with an excellent arm. Ryan was a two-year letterman and in his senior year shared captain duties with the elite group of nine seniors on a PR varsity baseball team that finished second in the WPIAL Quad A Section with a 20-4 record. Ryan currently attends Bethany College in West Virginia where he is majoring in Sports Management. As a freshman, Ryan is playing shortstop for the Bison’s baseball team in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference under Coach Rick Carver. Ryan also will be called upon for relief pitching.



Cono Passione


Cono graduated from Pine-Richland in 2007. He served as co-captain of the team in his senior year, along with his brother Daniel. He was among the statistical team leaders in all offensive categories in his senior season. Cono was also a member of the 2006 state championship team. He was a versital athlete, playing several positions on the field. After graduating from Pine-Richland as a four-year scholar athlete, Cono is currently attending the University of Akron studying engineering.



Daniel Passione


Dan graduated from Pine-Richland in 2007. He served as co-captain of the team in his senior year, along with his brother Cono. Dan was the starting catcher on the 2006 state championship team. He was selected as all-section catcher his senior year. After graduating from Pine-Richland as a four-year scholar athlete, Dan is currently attending the University of Akron studying engineering.



Joshua Spicer


Joshua graduated from Pine-Richland in 2005. He was a 3 year starter at second base and a 3 year letterman. Josh was a member of the varsity team that won WPIAL and section titles in 2004 and 2005. Joshua’s varsity batting average was .377. His fielding percentage was .980. Joshua graduated with at 3.7 GPA and was named "Who's Who Among Student Athletes". Joshua was a member of the 2006 Marietta College Baseball team that won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2006. Josh appeared in 15 games as the "Etta Express" made their run at the title. The Marietta College Baseball team continued their success with a World Series appearance in 2007 with Josh playing third and second. Josh finished his collegiate career in 2009 by leading the Marietta College Baseball team to the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship Game. Josh will graduate from Marietta College in the spring of 2010 with majors in History and Education and a certification in Leadership.



Neil Walker


Neil was a 2004 graduate of Pine-Richland High School, where he starred in both baseball and football. Neil hit .657 with 13 HR and 42 RBIs as a senior while helping the Rams win the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) championship. He was selected to USA Today's 10-player All-American team. Neil was a 2003 AFLAC All-American as a junior and as a senior in football with Pine-Richland. He caught 68 passes for 1,128 yards as a wide receiver to lead the Rams to a WPIAL title and a berth in the state championship game. Neil was an Associated Press First-Team All-State selection as a senior and was a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22" two-time selection as a junior and senior. He was also a two-time Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Male Athlete of the Year. Neil signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Clemson University (S.C.) but opted to play minor league professional baseball after being drafted by the Pirates in the 1st round (11th overall) in June 2004. After playing in the Pirates farm system in Altoona and Indianapolis, Neil was called up to the Majors by the Pirates on September 1, 2009.
